Hoping to bite into an apple again after tooth loss? Implants help make that dream a reality
While it’s always good to be careful about your decisions, in some cases, taking extra time ends up complicating things. This is especially true in the case of tooth loss. Soon after losing a permanent tooth, your jaw bone reacts to the absence of a tooth root. The bone tissue begins to resorb (dissolve), and your facial structure slowly begins to change. The surrounding teeth shift, disrupting your bite. Bacteria gather in the space left behind, hastening decay and gum disease.
Or, you get dental implants, and avoid all this damage and frustration.
If you’ve been thinking about implant treatment, we urge you to talk to an implant provider. There’s so much to gain from implants, and it all starts with a simple consultation. Westmont dental implants are available close to your home – just get in touch with our practice by filling out the form below, and find directions on this map.

Depending on your oral and systemic health, there may be additional steps to take before your implants can be placed. That’s one reason why we recommend having the implant conversation as soon after tooth loss as possible – you may be able to avoid some of these factors, and you’ll have more time to prep for the others.
- Bone loss – As we mentioned, the longer you spend without a tooth in place, the more bone loss will occur. If it’s been some time, you may need to get a bone graft to augment the area before implants. But if you’re proactive with your implant treatment, this step can be skipped.
- Periodontal disease – It’s imperative that there is no infection present in your mouth before implant surgery, so that we can avoid any complications and see proper healing. If you have gum disease, we will treat it and allow your mouth to recover before implant placement.
- Filling cavities – Like gum disease, tooth decay will need to be treated before implants. WIth our dental lasers and sedation, fillings are comfortable and convenient to receive.
