Common Chipped Tooth Treatments

  • Dental Bonding – Bonding can be used to fix many chipped teeth – and patients are always relieved to learn of the low price tag. This procedure is completed chairside, in a single appointment. Your dentist chooses composite in the appropriate shade, shapes it into the right size and structure, and applies it to your tooth. We then use a special light to harden the composite so that it will remain in place and act as a part of your smile. Because there’s no dental lab involved, and just one session, bonding is very affordable and still long-lasting.
  • Veneer – A veneer is the next step up for patients seeking more permanent tooth repair. Veneers are v-shaped shells that fit over your teeth. A veneer will cover a chip or break, support the overall tooth structure, and hide aesthetic imperfections. Veneers look incredibly natural, and will blend so well with your smile that you forget they’re there. Dr. Kowalczyk will hand-shape and shade your veneer so that it looks just like the real thing.
  • Crown – For more seriously damaged teeth, crowns offer additional structural support. A crown is a full cap that encompasses your natural tooth. Your dentist will prep your tooth so that the crown fits snugly in place without looking or feeling bulky. Crowns are right for teeth that have lost a significant amount of structure or suffered deeper-running trauma.

Can I Fix My Chipped Tooth at Home?

You might be tempted to try some kind of at-home kit or personal solution. Don’t use these systems – they don’t work, plain and simple. DIY dentistry is never, never a good idea. Instead, schedule a consultation to learn more about your options – you have nothing to lose, and so much to gain.
