- Adequate bone density – Your jaw bone connects with your teeth’s roots, supporting the tooth structures and keeping them in place. Once you lose a tooth, the bone in the area begins to resorb, or dissolve. This leads to weakened bone structure below the lost tooth, which might not allow a dental implant to integrate successfully. Fortunately, if your bone density is lacking, a bone graft before implant placement will bring the area up to speed.
- Periodontal health – Your gums need to be clean of infection so that the chances of complications during implant healing are low. If you have gum disease, we will help you treat it and prepare for implants.
- Overall good health – The implant healing process can take several months, and we don’t ever want implant surgery to lead to systemic problems. This means that you will need to be in adequate health to undergo a surgical procedure.
